ACSCD2019 - The First African Congress on Sickle Cell Disease

Nigeria was the beacon of the fight against Sickle Cell Disease in Africa from 31 October to 2 November 2019 with over 350 delegates from 18+ countries convening in Lagos for the 1st African Congress on Sickle Cell Disease.

Held under the High Patronage of His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and under the theme of 'Overcoming Sickle Cell Disease - Power of the Collective Voice', the Congress addressed critical issues such as prevention and screening, diagnosis and treatment, equality and accessibility, and sickle cell control systems through a series of plenary sessions, panel discussions and dedicated symposia.
